Waldport residents appear to be more engaged in local governance now more than at any point in recent times.
This heightened civic participation has led some citizens to exercise their constitutional right to initiate recall efforts against elected officials, reflecting both increased scrutiny of city leadership and a desire for accountability at the local level.
Justice for Waldport’s mission aligns with the recall efforts directed at the six city councilors in the fall of 2025, as those actions were consistent with our coalitions stated goals. So much so that we lent a hand to the efforts of the recall committees targeting city councilors councilors Rick Booth, Greg Dunn, Jayme Morris, Michelle Severson, Jerry Townsend, and Susan Woodruff. Unfortunately, the efforts were halted by a minor technicality on the petitions.
However, our coalition does not support the efforts to recall Mayor Lambert since that committee's agenda and conduct do not align with the Justice for Waldport Mission. Chief Petitioner, Susan Swander, filed a prospective recall petition on December 11, 2025. We contend that Swander supplied false information on the offical election forms SEL 350 and SEL 353. In fact, we are dedicated to exposing the facts and countering a misleading and unjust campaign aimed at overturning the voters’ decision to elect Mayor Lambert.
