Waldport, Oregon is a beautiful and picturesque coastal town located on the central Oregon coast, nestled between Alsea Bay and the Pacific Ocean. Established in the late 19th century and officially incorporated as a municipality in 1911, Waldport was originally a bustling logging community.

Today, Waldport is known for its stunning natural beauty, outdoor recreational opportunities, and a welcoming atmosphere that attracts visitors year-round. The official motto of this small city is “Where the Forest Meets the Sea.” With its scenic beaches, expansive views, and rich history, Waldport offers a blend of relaxation and adventure for both residents and visitors. It is home to approximately 2,000–2,200 people, including families with deep multigenerational roots as well as newer residents drawn to the area’s quality of life.

Waldport is intended to operate under a council–manager form of government, in which an elected city council establishes policy, exercises oversight, and adopts the budget, while an appointed City Manager carries out the day-to-day administration of city operations. In a healthy, fully engaged, and properly functioning council, this structure ensures accountability, transparency, and responsible governance across all departments, including administration and public works, which support essential services such as infrastructure, utilities, and community planning.
