RECALL EFFORTS

Waldport residents appear to be increasingly engaged in local governance, reflecting a heightened level of civic participation in recent times.

This increased engagement has led some citizens to exercise their constitutional right to initiate recall efforts against elected officials, reflecting both increased scrutiny of city leadership and a desire for accountability at the local level.

Justice for Waldport’s mission aligns with broader community concerns reflected in the recall efforts directed at six city councilors in the fall of 2025. Those efforts were undertaken by independent recall committees and were consistent with issues that our coalition has publicly identified as part of its mission. The initial petition efforts were subsequently halted due to an unfortunately overlooked technicality.

However, our coalition does not support the separate effort to recall Mayor Lambert, as the stated basis and conduct of that effort do not align with the Justice for Waldport mission. A prospective recall petition was filed on December 11, 2025 by Chief Petitioner Susan Swander. Based on our review, we believe the information submitted in connection with that filing raises significant concerns. Our coalition is committed to sharing information and perspectives regarding that effort so that community members may evaluate it for themselves.
