The following statement is a sworn declaration from Cindy Martinez concerning her experiences while living in the home of Greg and Sheila Dunn as a child.
Cindy Martinez is the seven-year-old child whose statements and interview were referenced in the 1998 investigation reports. An excerpt of that interview is reproduced below. It can also be found by clicking the following navigation link:
As a foster child, Cindy was placed in the Dunn home by the Kern County Department of Human Services, the county agency responsible for administering California's child welfare and foster care programs under the oversight of the California Department of Social Services.
In the statement below, she describes her recollections of those events, her attempts to report her concerns, and the long-term impact those experiences have had on her life.
The 2009 Bakersfield Police Department investigation referenced by Cindy in her statement can be read in its entirety here.
